flydubai Executives Inspect Nearly Complete Aircraft Maintenance Centre at Dubai South

Dubai:Senior executives from flydubai, including Chief Executive Officer Ghaith Al Ghaith and other key officers, recently conducted an official site inspection of the airline's new Aircraft Maintenance Centre (AMC) at Dubai South. This facility, a significant multimillion-dollar investment, is nearing the end of its construction phase at the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH).

According to Wam, the construction of the 32,600-square-metre AMC began in 2025 and is on track to finish by the end of this year. Following the completion of construction, the project will undergo an operational readiness, systems integration, and technical commissioning phase, with full operational capability expected in the first quarter of 2027.

This project is one of flydubai's largest aviation infrastructure investments, demonstrating the airline's confidence in Dubai's growth as a global hub. The facility is designed to support flydubai's expanding fleet, featuring heavy maintenance hangars, engineering workshops, materials management warehousing, and administrative offices. Upon full operation, it will employ 400 skilled technical professionals, helping to streamline operations and enhance fleet readiness.

CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith remarked that the AMC signifies a major milestone for flydubai, enhancing its operational self-sufficiency and long-term capabilities. The US$190 million initiative is a key component of the Dubai South aviation ecosystem and aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, aiming to position Dubai as a leading aviation and logistics hub.

flydubai's network currently spans over 125 destinations. With plans to expand, the airline has more than 300 aircraft on order, including 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners expected from 2028. The airline also anticipates receiving 11 Boeing 737 aircraft in 2026, increasing its fleet to 100. The AMC, located near Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), is central to flydubai's infrastructure, supporting its network growth and Dubai's vision of a world-class aviation environment.
