ABU DHABI: In a recent announcement, the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has reiterated its call for Resident Juridical Persons with licenses issued in August and September, regardless of the year of issuance, to submit their Corporate Tax registration applications by October 31, 2024, to avoid administrative penalties. According to Emirates News Agency, the FTA emphasized the importance of adhering to the timelines outlined in FTA Decision No. 3 of 2024, which specifies the registration deadlines for Taxable Persons under Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022 on the Taxation of Corporations and Businesses, effective from March 1, 2024. The FTA clarified that non-compliance with these deadlines would result in administrative penalties, as per Cabinet Decision No. 75 of 2023. The FTA's guidance applies to both Juridical and Natural Persons, whether Resident or Non-Resident. It specifies that Resident Juridical Persons incorporated before March 1, 2024, must register based on the month of license issuance. For those holding multiple licenses as of March 1, 2024, the earliest issuance date determines the deadline. Even if a license has expired by this date, the registration deadline remains based on its issuance month. Corporate Tax registration is facilitated through the EmaraTax digital platform, available around the clock. The streamlined process, which takes approximately 30 minutes, allows registrants to obtain a Tax Registration Number upon approval. The platform also provides existing VAT or Excise Tax registrants with direct access to complete their Corporate Tax registration. Furthermore, the FTA encourages unregistered Taxable Persons to create a new account on the EmaraTax platform using their email and mobile number. Registration can be completed by selecting the 'Register for Corporate Tax' option and following the straightforward steps provided. In addition to the digital platform, Taxable Persons can register through authorized Tax Agents or at government service centers, which offer electronic services aligned with government standards. After the verification of submitted data, a team of specialists reviews applications and issues the Tax Registration Number to the applicant's email.
