GCC Honors Sheikha Shamma bint Mohammed Al Nahyan for Social Work Leadership

Kuwait city: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has bestowed an honor upon Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan for her leadership in community-based social work in the UAE, acknowledging her contributions as the Chairperson of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions.

According to Emirates News Agency, the recognition was presented at an official ceremony organized by the GCC Secretariat General. This event took place alongside the 11th meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Social Affairs/Development of the GCC countries, held last week in Kuwait. The gathering saw participation from senior officials and ministers from across the region.

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Kuwait; Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, GCC Secretary-General; Dr. Amthal Al Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs and Family and Childhood Affairs of the State of Kuwait, and other dignitaries along with the GCC Ministers of Social Development.

The UAE's Ministry of Community Empowerment, which officially nominated Sheikha Shamma for this accolade, commended her institutional and community involvement. They noted that her cultural, educational, and youth initiatives have played a crucial role in empowering various societal segments, bolstering national identity, and embedding authentic Emirati values in future generations.

The Ministry further emphasized the importance of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions as a regional model, highlighting their diverse initiatives and extensive community reach.

This acknowledgement is part of a larger GCC initiative to recognize pioneering figures in community work. The aim is to inspire individuals and institutions across member states to initiate innovative social projects and share successful experiences for regional advancement.

Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed Al Nahyan conveyed her gratitude for the recognition, underscoring that it signifies the UAE leadership's dedication to fostering community work. She expressed that the award is both an honor and a responsibility to further cultural and social initiatives through the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions.
