Abu dhabi: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, GCC Secretary-General, expressed his approval of the resolution adopted by the Legal Committee of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) during its 113th session. This resolution strongly criticized Iran for closing the Strait of Hormuz, attacking and threatening vessels in the region, and assaulting territories of GCC member states and Jordan.
According to Emirates News Agency, the GCC Secretary-General also acknowledged the committee's condemnation of Iran's threats regarding the deployment of sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz and its adjacent waters. The resolution also addressed the toll system imposed on ships passing through the strait.
Albudaiwi praised the UAE's significant role in drafting the resolution, emphasizing the necessity for the international community to enforce the resolution in compliance with international law. He stressed the importance of ensuring the free passage of ships through the strait.
