Tbilisi: The Central Election Commission has reported that the opposition parties in Georgia have secured approximately 70% of the votes cast by citizens living abroad, while the ruling party, Georgian Dream, garnered 17.7%. Despite this strong showing by the opposition overseas, Georgian Dream maintained a significant lead domestically, achieving 54.2% of the total vote after recounting data from more than 99% of polling stations. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the domestic results revealed a different landscape, with Georgian Dream capturing a majority of the votes at home compared to the opposition's 37%. These figures underscore the disparity between the preferences of Georgian citizens living abroad and those residing within the country. The data highlights a significant division in political support, reflecting varied priorities and perspectives between the domestic and international Georgian electorate.
