CAIRO: His Eminence Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, welcomed a delegation from the Abrahamic Family House at Al-Azhar's headquarters in Cairo to reaffirm commitments to interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence. The meeting highlighted ongoing efforts to foster understanding and cooperation among different religious communities. According to Emirates News Agency, the delegation was led by Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, President of the Abrahamic Family House, and Abdulla Al Shehhi, the Acting Executive Director. Also present were Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman el-Dawiny, Under-Secretary of Al-Azhar, and Professor Dr. Mohamed Al Mahrasawi, President of Al Azhar International Academy for Training Imams and Preachers. Discussions centered on the role of the Abrahamic Family House as a center for learning and dialogue since its inauguration in 2023. The delegation expressed gratitude towards the Grand Imam for his leadership in promoting interfaith respect and understanding. As a gesture of appreciati on, they presented a model of the Imam Ahmed El-Tayeb Mosque, named in honor of the Grand Imam, recognizing his support for dialogue and coexistence. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak emphasized the Abrahamic Family House's dedication to fostering dialogue and cooperation, reflecting on the meeting as a commitment to peace and understanding. He noted the significance of the partnership in promoting the values outlined in the Document on Human Fraternity, co-signed by Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb and Pope Francis in 2019. Abdulla Al Shehhi remarked on the evolution of the Abrahamic Family House into a space for meaningful encounters and its role in promoting shared human values. He highlighted the thriving community at the Imam Ahmed El-Tayeb Mosque, reinforcing the commitment to building bridges between religious communities.
