Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, visited Jebel Ali Port, operated by DP World, to review operations, meet the teams facilitating regional trade, and witness the investments strengthening trade infrastructure.

According to Emirates News Agency, during the visit, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the port's operational performance and multimodal logistics capabilities. Over the past two months, DP World managed nearly 200,000 TEUs via regional overland truck and rail corridors, showcasing the resilience of the gateway's network. He commended the port's team for their achievements and consistent operational excellence, emphasizing the port's role in maintaining seamless trade through one of the world's leading maritime logistics gateways.

'Dubai's leading position in global trade has been shaped by long-term vision, advanced infrastructure, and its ability to connect markets across continents. For nearly five decades, Jebel Ali Port has remained at the heart of a continuing success story, linking regional and international supply chains while ensuring the uninterrupted flow of commerce. We commend DP World for advancing the UAE and Dubai's vision for a strong and sustainable economic future,' he stated.

He added that as trade networks evolve, Dubai remains focused on expanding multimodal connectivity and investing in infrastructure that enhances supply chain efficiency, supports global commerce, and strengthens Dubai's standing as a leading trade platform.

Jebel Ali Port, the anchor of Middle Eastern trade, plays a critical role in the UAE's economic framework. It serves as a strategic base for manufacturing, logistics, and distribution, connecting 12,000 companies to markets globally.

During the tour, Sheikh Hamdan visited facilities including the Jebel Ali Rail Terminal, the BOXBAY high-bay storage system, and the Terminal 2 operations centre. These facilities reflect DP World's investment in infrastructure, automation, and connectivity, supporting the UAE's global trade role.

Accompanied by DP World officials, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the port's role in maintaining regional trade flow. Essa Kazim, Chairman of DP World, highlighted the diversified infrastructure built over 50 years, which has established Jebel Ali as the region's trusted trade gateway.

Sheikh Hamdan also learned about the Jebel Ali Rail Terminal, which connects to the UAE's national rail network, with an annual capacity of 800,000 TEUs and plans to expand to 1.6 million TEUs. He visited the Terminal 2 control room and BOXBAY, an automated high-bay container storage system that increases port capacity without expanding the footprint.

These developments align with Dubai's investments in logistics, integrating infrastructure, automation, and digital systems to enhance supply chain resilience and drive sustainable trade growth.

DP World operates globally with a workforce exceeding 125,000, over 300 freight offices, and a fleet of more than 500 vessels. Jebel Ali Port is the largest in the Middle East and the hub of Jafza, the region's most extensive free zone, home to companies across various sectors.
