Hamdan bin Mohammed Urges Swift Action to Enhance UAE’s Global Investment Standing

Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has urged the acceleration of national efforts to solidify the United Arab Emirates' reputation as a leading global investment hub. In a meeting with UAE Minister of Investment Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the need to implement the 'We the UAE 2031' vision, aiming to position the UAE at the forefront of the global economy. According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions also involved Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications. The meeting highlighted the UAE's ambitions to cement its leadership as an investment destination, reviewing key initiatives to enhance the country's competitiveness for investors, entrepreneurs, and international companies. Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the Ministry of Investment's efforts to attract foreign direct investment, particularly in sectors crucial to the UAE's competitiveness. He underlined the importance of innovation in fostering sustainable development and strengthening the national economy, emphasizing investment in Emirati talent to drive growth and economic diversification. The Crown Prince stressed the significance of collaboration between government entities and investors to facilitate sustainable growth and fulfill the leadership's vision of making the UAE a premier global trade and investment hub. Encouraging foreign investors requires a secure investment environment, supported by flexible policies, advanced infrastructure, and a conducive legislative framework. The UAE's strategic initiatives have yielded notable results, as highlighted by UNCTAD's Global FDI Report 2024. The report reveals a substantial increase in foreign direct investment inflows to the UAE, with US$30.688 billion (AED112.6 billion) recorded in 2023, up from US$22.737 billion (AED83.5 billion) in 2022-a growth of nearly 35 percent. This achievement has propelled the UAE to second place globally in FDI inflows for 2023.
