Abu Dhabi:Hurricane Nolo has intensified into a Category 2 storm, located south of Hawaii, and poses a significant threat to the Big Island with catastrophic and potentially life-threatening flooding.

According to Emirates News Agency, the US National Hurricane Center has warned that the rainfall accompanying Hurricane Nolo could lead to catastrophic, life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides, especially in areas with steep terrain.

In response to the approaching hurricane, Hawaii has increased its preparedness efforts. Officials have urged residents to assemble emergency kits, while more than 230 Hawaii National Guard personnel have been activated as part of the state's emergency measures. Additionally, schools on Hawaii Island have been closed for the remainder of the week.
