AMMAN: The Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Intaj) has commended the government's recent decision to amend the income tax exemption bylaw for service exports, highlighting its potential to significantly bolster the competitiveness of national companies in the global market. According to Jordan News Agency, Intaj released a statement on Sunday expressing approval of the Cabinet's move to adjust the income tax rules for 2024. The association described this adjustment as a crucial step towards supporting Jordan's digital economy and reinforcing the country's stature as a leading hub for exporting technological services. The amendment specifically targets the profits from service exports, notably in the fields of information technology, and legal and engineering consulting, by exempting them from income tax. This change is expected to enhance the operational capabilities of Jordanian companies, enabling them to offer higher quality services and expand their market reach. Intaj praised the government's economic team for their efforts, which are anticipated to attract further investments into Jordan, thus creating more job opportunities, particularly for the youth. The association also noted that the exemption would allow companies to reinvest additional resources into product development, fostering an environment conducive to innovation and growth.
