BEIRUT: In a significant escalation of the ongoing conflict, Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon have exceeded 11,000 since the onset of hostilities, according to a report by the Lebanese Government's Emergency Committee. The latest data, distributed by Caretaker Environment Minister Nasser Yassin, reveals that 76 airstrikes occurred within the past 24 hours, with most targeting southern regions and Nabatieh. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Public Health Ministry has reported a grim toll, with 19 fatalities and 108 injuries recorded in the last day. This brings the total number of deaths to 2,653, with 12,360 individuals wounded since the conflict began. The humanitarian crisis continues to intensify as displacement figures soar. Currently, 189,169 people, comprising 42,907 families, are residing in shelters. The governorates of Mount Lebanon and Beirut are experiencing the highest displacement rates, with 931 of the 1,108 centers reaching full capacity. Efforts to support the displaced are ongoi ng, with security forces providing assistance by distributing food and fuel, safeguarding shelters, and ensuring border control. Additionally, from September 23 to October 26, 2024, General Security documented the movement of 349,796 Syrian citizens and 159,148 Lebanese citizens crossing into Syria.
