According to Emirates News Agency, Sharjah Team's Rusty Wyatt will enter the race with a 17-point advantage over defending champion Andersson, having secured the third spot in the qualifiers behind French racer Peter Morin. Team Abu Dhabi's Thani Al Qemzi, a two-time championship runner-up, will start from the eighth position after experiencing repeated issues with his boat on the 1,986-meter Yellow River circuit. These problems included engine and battery failures during both the free practice sessions and the qualifiers, culminating in his retirement in the middle of the first sprint session today. His teammate, Rashed Al Qemzi, also retired shortly after due to similar issues . Despite these setbacks, Andersson managed to remain unaffected by technical problems, leading the qualifying session and securing a victory in the first sprint race of the afternoon. This performance not only demonstrated his resilience but also kept his hopes for the 2024 championship title alive. Meanwhile, Wyatt maintained strong form, finishing second behind Morin in the afternoon's second sprint race, after overcoming initial difficulties in the qualifiers where his boat needed to be drained of water. As the teams prepare for tomorrow's race, Thani Al Qemzi expressed a mix of frustration and determination. "This race has just been bad luck. I had many problems, first with the engine, then with the battery, and now with the engine again. But tomorrow is a new race, and I hope to have a much better day," he stated.
