MANAMA: The Department of Statistics (DoS) of Jordan participated in two significant regional meetings in Bahrain, including the 49th meeting of the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS) Board of Trustees and the 16th session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Statistical Committee. The events, held in Manama from October 21 to 23, focused on enhancing statistical collaboration and promoting the effective use of Jordanian statistical expertise. According to Jordan News Agency, Haidar Farihat, the Director General of DoS, engaged in multiple discussions with senior officials from Arab statistical agencies. These discussions aimed to bolster collaborative efforts and share innovative practices that could enhance statistical systems across the region. A key focus was addressing common statistical challenges and emphasizing the role of accurate data in economic and social development plans. The meetings included representatives from member stat es and leaders of official statistical centers, all dedicated to creating robust statistical frameworks within their respective countries. The 49th meeting's agenda involved initiatives to improve data production and dissemination, ensuring alignment with international standards.
