Abu dhabi: Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced that Khalda Petroleum has commenced production from the newly discovered Wanda deep natural gas exploration well in Egypt's Western Desert, with an initial output rate of 40 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d).

According to Emirates News Agency, the Wanda well was drilled to a depth of 15,000 feet, where electrical logging indicated the presence of natural gas-bearing structures. Subsequent production testing confirmed that the well is capable of commercial output at the rate of 40 mmcf/d. To facilitate rapid development, Khalda Petroleum invested $2.3 million to construct a 10-kilometre production pipeline, connecting the well directly to existing infrastructure.

This discovery aligns with the ministry's strategy to enhance domestic hydrocarbon production and accelerate the development of new findings. It also supports ongoing exploration activities in the Western Desert and contributes to strengthening Egypt's domestic natural gas supply.
