Abu Dhabi:Khazna Data Centres has published its first standalone Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, setting a new standard for sustainability reporting. This report establishes a baseline for measuring and improving the environmental and social impacts of Khazna's operations as it expands globally in response to the increasing demand for data centre capacity.
According to Emirates News Agency, Khazna's ESG Report outlines the company's goal to power 100% of its mechanical load with carbon-free electricity by 2035. This initiative is part of its broader decarbonisation strategy, which includes plans to cover 50% of its mechanical load with clean energy by 2030. The report also details Khazna's formalisation of a greenhouse gas accounting methodology in 2025, aligning with the GHG Protocol to create a baseline for future performance management.
The report highlights Khazna's sustainability-by-design approach, ensuring environmental performance and resource stewardship are integrated into data centre design and operation. In particular, facilities in the GCC are designed for PUE values of 1.5 or below, with those in other markets aimed at even lower PUE values. Khazna reported that 27% of its mechanical cooling load was powered by carbon-free electricity in 2025, and 19.8% of cooling water needs were met with recycled water.
Furthermore, the report states that Khazna achieved a Zero Waste Certification for its DXB8 facility, with a 99.55% waste diversion rate from landfills. Beyond environmental concerns, Khazna is committed to improving safety and community engagement, reporting a total LTIFR of 0.097 across 20.6 million hours in 2025, with zero lost time injuries at operational sites. The company also delivered over 5,000 hours of training and engaged in structured volunteering and community partnerships.
Khazna's ESG Report, which adheres to GRI Standards, will be updated annually to enhance ESG governance and reporting maturity, demonstrating the company's commitment to transparency and operational excellence.
