Seoul: The Republic of Korea's benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) briefly jumped above 8,000 points for the first time on Friday, driven by sustained optimism surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) and strong earnings from major technology firms.
According to Emirates News Agency, it took just seven trading sessions for KOSPI to surge past the 8,000-point mark after it first surpassed 7,000 points on May 6. The index reached a new high of 8,001.4 at 9:15 am but later reduced its gains in early morning trading, as reported by Yonhap News Agency.
