BEIRUT: The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants has expressed approval of the G7 ministerial meeting's statement concerning Lebanon, particularly its advocacy for an immediate stop to hostilities and a focus on peaceful resolutions. The meeting, held on October 22, 2024, in Pescara, Italy, underscored the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, the role of UNIFIL, the protection of civilians, and the provision of humanitarian aid. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the ministry conveyed gratitude towards the Italian presidency of the G7, led by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, for extending an invitation to Lebanon's Foreign Minister. This invitation allowed Lebanon to voice the challenges it currently faces, including aggressions that endanger the nation's safety and future, and to explore avenues for a sustainable peace along its southern border. The ministry emphasized that the engagement at the G7 meeting was a critical platform for discussing the country's pressi ng issues and for seeking international support for a stable and secure Lebanon.
