Liwa International Festival 2025 Dates Announced by DCT Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI: The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has announced the dates for the third edition of the Liwa International Festival 2025. Scheduled to take place from December 13, 2024, to January 4, 2025, the festival will be held in Liwa, in the Al Dhafra region, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region. According to Emirates News Agency, the Liwa International Festival, organized in collaboration with Liwa Sports Club, Al Dhafra Municipality, Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Media Network, and Miral, will extend over 23 consecutive days. The event aims to reinforce Al Dhafra's status as a prominent winter destination, attracting various community segments including camping enthusiasts and adventure lovers, alongside fans of traditional sports and competitive racing. The festival will offer a diverse program of activities, including fireworks displays, live music performances, and a variety of desert engagements. The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi will organize desert, arts, and entertainment events, alongside the Liwa Village, which celebrates Emirati heritage. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy musical performances, dining options, a crafts market, workshops, family activities, and a children's play area, with local vendors featuring Emirati products. The sporting events will begin on December 13 with a two-day car exhibition, followed by competitions culminating in the Hill Climbing Championship in the final days. Traditional sports such as falconry, camel racing, horse racing, pigeon shooting, and archery will also be highlighted during the festival. The Liwa International Festival aims to showcase the unique tourism offerings of the Al Dhafra region, inviting attendees to create memorable experiences with family and friends through its celebration of adventure, sports, culture, arts, and music.
