ABU DHABI: The Authority of Social Contribution - Ma'an has released its 2023 Community Contributions and Engagement Impact Report, detailing significant achievements and the authority's impact on various community sectors in Abu Dhabi. The report underscores Ma'an's collaborative efforts with government, private, and social sectors to foster community participation in addressing pressing social priorities through sustainable solutions. According to Emirates News Agency, the report highlights Ma'an's transparent allocation of community contributions towards projects that address social priorities, impacting over 430,459 individuals in 2023. Faisal Alhmoudi, Executive Director of the Social Investment Fund at Ma'an, emphasized the collective efforts reflected in the report, with contributions directly supporting social projects aimed at improving community cohesion and inclusivity. Aligned with Abu Dhabi's commitment to sustainable social development, Ma'an supported 57 projects in 2023, distributing AED91 m illion across various sectors. The authority saw a substantial rise in contributions, with community donations reaching AED16.4 million in 2023, up from AED2.3 million in 2021. Corporate contributions also surged, growing from AED1.6 million in 2021 to AED34.2 million by the end of 2023. Salem Ali Al Shamsi, Executive Director of Social Incubation and Contracting at Ma'an, highlighted the role of partnerships in empowering non-profits and social enterprises to address social priorities. In 2023, Ma'an launched three Social Impact Bonds and 11 social impact contracts, valued at over AED47 million, in collaboration with 21 partners, benefiting more than 10,993 service users. The Ma'an Social Incubator (MSI) has launched eight cohorts targeting social challenges, supporting 84 startups, including 23 in 2023, and certifying 42 social enterprises. These initiatives received AED22.1 million in grants and seed funding, delivering services to at least 119,000 beneficiaries. Maysa Alnuwais, Executive Director of th e Community Engagement and Volunteering Sector at Ma'an, noted the essential role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions in driving projects for measurable change. Ma'an's extensive volunteering programs have mobilized community members to create sustainable social impact across Abu Dhabi, uniting community efforts and corporate resources to build a resilient and inclusive future.
