Abu dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, has given the green light to the 2026-2027 horse racing and equestrian season. Held under his patronage, the programme is set to feature endurance races at the Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba, Arabian horse beauty championships organised by the Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS), and flat racing events hosted at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Mansour highlighted that the upcoming season is a testament to the UAE's longstanding dedication to equestrian sports. He emphasized the importance of preserving the UAE's equestrian heritage and developing it to meet high standards of organisation and professionalism. He noted that the UAE's leadership in equestrian sports is rooted in the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the nation's Founding Father.
The season will see a variety of events, including the EAHS National Arabian Horse Championship and the UAE National Arabian Horse Championship, among others. The Emirates International Endurance Village will host several notable races such as the Union Day Cup and the UAE President's Endurance Cup. Additionally, the Abu Dhabi Racecourse will feature a series of race meetings, including the President's Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Harbi, Director-General of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society, expressed gratitude to Sheikh Mansour for his unwavering support. He stated that the programme aims to further cement the UAE's leadership in Arabian horse championships on the global stage. Musallam Al Ameri, Director-General of the Emirates International Endurance Village, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the deep passion and commitment to maintaining high standards in the organisation of races and events.
