Abu dhabi: The Foreign Ministers of UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Trkiye, KSA, and Egypt have issued a joint statement condemning Israel's rejection of the Road Map for implementing US President Trump's Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict. This plan, endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, is seen as a crucial step towards Palestinian statehood.
According to Emirates News Agency, the ministers expressed that Israel's stance threatens to undermine the comprehensive peace efforts in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territory. They emphasized that Israel's rejection constitutes a direct repudiation of the plan and jeopardizes the collective efforts to establish a just and lasting peace. The Road Map, accepted by Palestinian factions and mediated by several nations including Egypt and Qatar, aims for the decommissioning of weapons, withdrawal of Israeli forces, and reconstruction of Gaza.
The ministers highlighted the necessity of sustained US engagement to ensure Israel's compliance with the Comprehensive Plan. They stressed that Israel bears full responsibility for any consequences arising from its refusal and obstruction, which could exacerbate the humanitarian situation in Gaza and hinder the prospects for peace.
The statement reaffirmed the significance of a two-state solution based on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital, in accordance with international law. The ministers urged the Board of Peace, with US support, to take decisive actions to uphold the integrity of the Comprehensive Plan and prevent any obstruction in its implementation.
