Ministry of Foreign Affairs Unveils Digital Innovations and AI Integration in Consular Services at GITEX Global 2024

Dubai: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) showcased its advanced digital transformation initiatives, including the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into consular services at GITEX Global 2024, underlining its commitment to revolutionizing government operations and enhancing service efficiency. According to Emirates News Agency, MoFA's participation in GITEX Global 2024 focused on its comprehensive strategy to integrate digital technology across consular services through its Smart Mission initiative. This initiative seeks to eliminate bureaucracy and improve service delivery in line with the UAE's visionary leadership goals, which emphasize proactive, exceptional, and adaptable digital services accessible to all societal segments. During the event, MoFA hosted a panel discussion titled "Leadership in Digital Transformation: Towards a Human-Centered Future" on October 15, 2024. This session featured MoFA's collaborations with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, and the Sharjah Private Education Authority. These entities are integral to MoFA's digital attestation service integration project, which aims to facilitate seamless government transactions through a unified digital platform. On October 16, 2024, MoFA conducted a session called "The Smart Mission: From Zero Bureaucracy to the Future of Consular Services", led by Mohammed Al Mansouri, MoFA's Chief AI Officer and Acting Director of the Consular Services Department. The session highlighted the use of AI, IoT, and other cutting-edge technologies to provide rapid, flexible, and efficient services to UAE citizens, residents abroad, and visitors. Al Mansouri commented on the readiness and strategic foresight of MoFA, stating, "We were ready for this transformation. Our proactive vision and strict compliance with the country's digital transformation strategies enabled us to anticipate these changes and anticipate customer needs." The ministry also announced advancements in the Electronic Document Attestation System (eDAS 2.0) and emphasized its ongoing commitment to human-centered digital services. These efforts are part of the UAE's broader objectives to maintain its leadership in digital transformation and innovation in government services.
