Mozambique Seeks $1.6 Billion for Post-Flood Recovery Efforts

Abu dhabi: The Government of Mozambique announced that the nation requires US$1.6 billion to support recovery and reconstruction initiatives following the devastating floods experienced earlier this year, which are considered the worst in decades.

According to Emirates News Agency, the government has detailed a reconstruction plan that aims to secure funding over a three-year period. The plan involves using a blend of the state budget, contributions from donor grants, and climate funds to finance the recovery efforts. The severe flooding, which occurred last May, affected over 700,000 people and resulted in hundreds of fatalities in the southern and central provinces of the country.
