Abu dhabi: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attended Easter celebrations at St Anthony Cathedral of the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church in Abu Dhabi. The event was graced by Essam Ashour, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the UAE, along with members of the Egyptian community, and diplomatic and social figures.
According to Emirates News Agency, the attendance underscores the UAE's dedication to embracing the celebrations of different religious communities and promoting coexistence and human understanding. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak expressed his joy in joining the Easter celebration, emphasizing the occasion as a symbol of purity, joy, and faith. He extended his best wishes for a harmonious feast, hoping that such holidays continue to foster unity and love among people.
Sheikh Nahyan noted that the gathering in the Abu Dhabi church represents the UAE's commitment to fostering coexistence and fraternity, uniting people of various nationalities and faiths. He expressed confidence that prayers during the event would include hopes for the UAE's ongoing safety, stability, and prosperity under its leadership.
Further, Sheikh Nahyan highlighted the strong ties between the UAE and Egypt, acknowledging the valuable contributions of the Egyptian community. He conveyed greetings to the people of Egypt and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Additionally, he praised the Coptic Church and St Anthony Cathedral for their roles in promoting tolerance and brotherhood.
