Abu dhabi: Network International (Network), a prominent fintech entity across the Middle East and Africa, has announced the extension of 'Jaywan' - the UAE's Domestic Card Scheme - for online payments. This development enables cardholders to utilize Jaywan across Network's extensive e-commerce merchant network.
According to Emirates News Agency, Jaywan, launched by Al Etihad Payments, a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE, aligns with the UAE's digital transformation strategy. This initiative aims to foster innovation, digitization, and global interoperability, thereby reinforcing the nation's status as a leading global hub for digital payments.
Network International has integrated Jaywan card acceptance into its e-commerce payment gateway platform, facilitating secure, rapid, and seamless online transactions. Customers can now conveniently use their Jaywan cards across thousands of Network's online merchants within the UAE, with no additional fees imposed on merchants for Jaywan transactions processed through the gateway.
Pinar Alpay, Group Chief Product and Marketing Officer at Network International, stated, "Extending Jaywan acceptance to online payments is a natural next step in our collaboration with Al Etihad Payments. It reflects the trust placed in Network to bolster the UAE's digital payments infrastructure. Having enabled Jaywan for in-person transactions across our merchant network, we are now bringing that same security and interoperability to online commerce, offering cardholders a consistent experience wherever they choose to pay."
Andrea Cianchetti, Chief Products Officer at Al Etihad Payments, remarked, "Jaywan's growth is fueled by extensive participation across the payments industry. Each issuer, acquirer, and payment service provider that enables the scheme broadens the scope for customers to use their cards, whether in-store, online, or via mobile wallets. Network's support for online acceptance marks another significant step in extending Jaywan's reach and making it accessible across more everyday payment journeys in the UAE."
Network International was among the pioneers in facilitating Jaywan card acceptance in the UAE for in-person payments. By extending its support to online payments, Network continues to significantly contribute towards the UAE's financial inclusion and digital transformation agenda.
Jaywan is committed to empowering businesses and consumers with a secure, efficient, and innovative payment solution. Its multifaceted goals include reducing transaction costs through a viable local alternative, enhancing operational efficiency via expedited local payment processes, and fostering economic growth.
