NMA Showcases Regulatory Role at Abu Dhabi International Book Fair

Abu dhabi: The National Media Authority (NMA) is actively participating in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) to advance its mission of regulating the media sector, boosting the publishing industry, and fostering an environment that allows publishers and content creators to enhance their businesses and broaden their reach in both local and international markets.

According to Emirates News Agency, the NMA's involvement aims to acquaint publishers, writers, and visitors with its services related to licensing and media content accreditation, aligning with current media legislation. These services are designed to streamline publishing activities, support the sector's growth, and improve the quality and variety of content available.

Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the NMA, emphasized the significance of the publishing industry as a fundamental component of knowledge production and creative economic development. He stated that the NMA seeks to boost the industry's competitiveness and growth opportunities by providing a conducive regulatory and service environment that encourages investment, facilitates publishers' operations, and supports content development while ensuring adherence to the UAE's media content standards.

Al Shehhi also noted that participation in the ADIBF offers a chance to stay informed about developments in the publishing industry and its business environment. It allows for direct engagement with publishers to understand their needs and challenges, and to incorporate their feedback in refining the NMA's services and procedures to align with the evolving landscape of content production, publishing, and distribution.

He affirmed that the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is a vital platform for enhancing the visibility of publishing houses, opening up new markets for their publications, and fostering partnerships in translation, distribution, and publishing rights. This, in turn, expands collaboration between Emirati publishers and their global counterparts.

The NMA's participation in the fair underscores its commitment to bolstering partnerships with publishers and cultural institutions, supporting their role in enriching Arabic content, and solidifying the UAE's status as a hub for publishing and creative industries.
