Palestinian Foreign Ministry Holds UN Security Council Accountable for Inaction in Gaza Conflict

RAMALLAH: The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has issued a strong statement holding the United Nations Security Council accountable for its inability to halt what it described as a genocidal war against Palestinians. The Ministry urged the Council to fulfill its legal obligations and take decisive action to protect the Palestinian people. According to Jordan News Agency, the statement released on Wednesday calls for the Security Council to utilize its authority to end all forms of genocide allegedly committed by occupation forces. This includes what the Ministry terms a "war of starvation," denial of medical treatment, and forced displacement, particularly in the northern regions of the Gaza Strip. The Ministry stressed the need for binding measures to enforce international legitimacy resolutions and ensure an immediate cessation of hostilities. Additionally, the Foreign Ministry cautioned against any plans that could lead to a permanent division between parts of the Palestinian territories, warning that such moves would undermine the prospects for establishing a viable Palestinian state.
