Ras Al Khaimah: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, emphasized the importance of preserving the nation’s documentary record as vital to maintaining national identity and enhancing public awareness of the UAE’s heritage and cultural legacy. This statement was made during a meeting at Saqr bin Mohammed Palace, where he received Dr. Abdulla Majid Al Ali, Director-General of the National Library and Archives, alongside several senior officials.
According to Emirates News Agency, the RAK Ruler was briefed on the National Library and Archives’ long-term strategic plan, which aims at preserving the UAE’s documentary heritage. He praised the institution for its central role in maintaining the country’s collective memory and fortifying its cultural and intellectual legacy.
The meeting included a presentation of the 2023-2032 institutional strategy, highlighting priorities such as enhancing digital archiving tools, launching initiatives to cultivate a knowledge-driven society, and bolstering the institution’s role in documentation and research locally and globally.
H.H. Sheikh Saud recognized the ongoing efforts to advance a system for document and knowledge preservation. He stressed that investment in archival science and knowledge is crucial for supporting comprehensive and sustainable development and for ensuring that the country’s memory is preserved for future generations.
Dr. Abdulla Majid Al Ali expressed gratitude for H.H. Sheikh Saud’s unwavering support. He highlighted the institution’s dedication to realizing its strategic vision through an integrated institutional approach, guided by the wise leadership’s directives, with the aim of elevating the UAE’s global position in archiving and knowledge preservation.
