ABU DHABI: SAFEEN Subsea, part of AD Ports Group’s Maritime and Shipping Cluster, has launched ‘SAFEEN Green,’ a state-of-the-art remotely operated unmanned vessel (USV) designed to revolutionise marine surveys and inspections. This cutting-edge vessel is set to deliver geophysical data to commercial standards with remarkable operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.

According to Emirates News Agency, SAFEEN Green signifies a substantial leap forward in the subsea services industry. Capable of operating up to 200 nautical miles offshore, it gathers high-quality geophysical and hydrographic data while maintaining a minimal environmental footprint. The vessel is operated from an onshore Remote Operation Centre (ROC), leveraging advanced navigation and safety technologies to ensure uninterrupted and secure operations.

Powered entirely by renewable electric energy or biofuel, SAFEEN Green emits only 10% of the emissions of a traditional vessel, ensuring a drastically reduced carbon footprint. Its
unmanned operation enhances safety by removing risks to personnel, with dual autopilots, redundant HD cameras, and comprehensive monitoring systems ensuring secure and efficient operations.

The vessel offers modular payload options and superior fuel economy, translating to cost-efficiency without compromising performance. Captain Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of the Maritime and Shipping Cluster at AD Ports Group, highlighted the launch as a significant milestone in their commitment to sustainability and technological innovation.
