Rome: Senator Khawla Armouti represented Jordan in the Committee on Women's Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, convened in Rome. Armouti underscored the pressing need to uphold women's rights, emphasizing the injustice suffered by Arab women, particularly Palestinian women in Gaza, who endure armed conflicts and severe deprivation. According to Jordan News Agency, during the meetings, Armouti highlighted Jordan's strides in advocating for gender equality across political, economic, and social sectors. She noted the country's active role in promoting women's participation in political life and parliamentary roles, emphasizing that recent reforms, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, have strengthened women's presence in the legislative landscape.
