SHARJAH: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued decrees to establish both the Public Prosecution and the Judicial Department in the Emirate. These initiatives aim to enhance the judicial framework by granting these entities financial and administrative independence while affiliating them with the Judicial Council. According to Emirates News Agency, the Emiri Decree outlines the formation of a judicial authority named the 'Public Prosecution' in Sharjah. This authority will handle investigations and accusations before competent courts in the Emirate and may take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Judicial Council. The Public Prosecution will possess legal personality and capacity to fulfill its objectives and exercise its powers effectively. Simultaneously, Sheikh Dr. Sultan has also mandated the creation of the 'Judicial Department' in Sharjah. This department will operate with its own legal personality and capacity, task ed with organizing and overseeing the operations of courts and judicial services across the Emirate. The goal is to ensure justice is served and maintain the judiciary's independence. The decrees specify that two laws will be issued to define the authorities of these entities, following the legislative procedures in Sharjah.
