Sharjah Women’s Sports Clubs Triumph at UAE Athletics Cup with 58 Medals

Sharjah: Sharjah Women's Sports Clubs (SWSC) achieved remarkable success at the UAE Athletics Cup for all age groups, held from May 8-10. The club secured victories in the junior, youth, and senior categories, while Khorfakkan Women's Sports Club also showcased strong performances across various competitions.

According to Emirates News Agency, in the junior category, Sharjah athletes excelled by winning multiple medals and setting records. Notable gold medalists included Maria Fahad, Alia Khalid Al Shawari, Fawaghi Hamid, Hamda Jassim Ahli, Reem Al Badawi, Fatima Saud Al Sinani, Wadima Mohammed Fikri, Hanan Ibrahim, and Rahaf Al Hosani. They also earned a silver medal in the 4x200m relay. Khorfakkan Club's athletes, including Fatima Rashid Suleiman, Mariam Omar, Hajar Al Saadi, Maitha Juma, and Mira Ibrahim, also delivered strong performances.

In the junior girls' category, Sharjah's athletes continued their impressive streak. Sarah Fahad Abdullah won gold in the 100-metre hurdles, setting a new record, while Samar Saleh secured gold in the high jump with another record-breaking performance. Other gold medalists from Sharjah included Shahd Rashid, Al Yazia Tariq, Alia Al Muhairi, Rodina Mohammed Adel, and Mariam Murad, along with a victory in the medley relay. Khorfakkan's athletes, Khadija Mohammed Al Hamsh and Raya Momen Al Dhanhani, also made significant contributions.

In the youth girls' category, Asmita Ganesh clinched gold in the 400 metres for Sharjah Women's Sports Club, and Sarah Khalifa Al Naqbi won gold in the long jump for Khorfakkan Women's Sports Club. The success continued in the women's category, with Sharjah Women's Sports Club's Mahra Abdulrahim Anqalia, Fatima Ali Al Balushi, Abeer Ibrahim Al Balushi, and Adhra Adel securing gold medals, alongside a victory in the 4x100-meter relay.

Mai Al Ameri, Deputy Director of Sharjah Women's Sports Club, emphasized that the results reflect the strength of cumulative work and technical commitment despite challenges. Hind Al Kabawi, Technical Director of Athletics, highlighted that the new achievements confirm the technical development and the establishment of a strong competitive foundation for the future.
