Abu dhabi: Space42, the UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company, has launched the Future Spacers Programme to develop Emirati talent in space, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.
According to Emirates News Agency, the programme aligns with the UAE's National Space Strategy 2031 and offers Emirati students interested in STEM, AI, data management, and emerging technologies up to 16 weeks of training at Space42 facilities. The inaugural cohort comprises students from Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), and Zayed University, as well as schools identified by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
Adith Abraham, Vice President of Talent Engagement and Development at Space42, emphasized the importance of nurturing talent to shape the future of space through technology innovation. He highlighted the overlap between space and AI disciplines, forecasting increased demand for teams capable of transforming emerging technologies into practical solutions. Abraham described the Future Spacers Programme as a long-term investment, providing students with strong foundations to contribute to the UAE's space and AI ecosystem.
The programme's 2026 inaugural season follows a selection process for students that includes enrollment in relevant STEM fields, a minimum GPA requirement, and interviews. Participants will engage in theoretical seminars exploring space-based technology applications and AI-supported data analysis. Practical experience, guided by industry specialists, will focus on addressing business and industry challenges. In addition, the programme includes professional and workplace skill development, covering problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and adaptability, culminating in Space42 certification recognized by partner entities.
Future cohorts will be welcomed bi-annually, furthering Space42's commitment to growing the national workforce through continuous engagement with universities and schools.
