Special Olympics UAE to Host Swimming Competition for World Swim Day

ABU DHABI: Special Olympics UAE, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Aquatics Club, is set to host a swimming competition at the Mohammed bin Zayed City Sports Centre's Aquatics Complex tomorrow, aligned with the celebration of World Swim Day. The event will feature participation from 45 athletes representing People of Determination clubs across the United Arab Emirates, aiming to enhance their skills and highlight the growing popularity of swimming among individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. According to Emirates News Agency, Talal Al Hashemi, National Director of Special Olympics UAE, emphasized the organization's mission to create an empowering environment that goes beyond mere participation. "On this World Swim Day, we invite people of determination to dive into the world of swimming, promoting inclusion and engagement," Al Hashemi stated. The event is expected to attract a diverse community to the Mohammed Bin Zayed City Sports Center, showcasing the strength and resilience of ever y athlete and reinforcing the organization's belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to shine. Humaid Al Hooti, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Aquatics Club, expressed his enthusiasm about partnering with Special Olympics UAE. "This aligns with the club's mission to support all members of the community in adopting healthy lifestyles and engaging in sports," Al Hooti said. He assured that the athletes will receive the necessary technical support during the competition and looked forward to a successful event and future collaborations with Special Olympics UAE. The competition is part of the ongoing Special Olympics UAE sports season and will commence at 10:00 am, featuring races for both men and women as a celebration of the athletes' achievements.
