Sri Lankan Army Praises UAE Search and Rescue Team’s Efficiency During Natural Disasters


Colombo: The Sri Lankan Army commended the efficiency of the UAE Search and Rescue (SAR) team and its high capabilities in dealing with difficult environments, the precision of its fieldwork, and its rapid access to affected sites. This acknowledgment comes as the UAE SAR team continues its critical missions in regions impacted by severe floods and landslides in Sri Lanka.



According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE search and rescue team has been conducting field missions in the disaster-stricken areas. Today, the team discovered another body in the Wattegama area, increasing the total number of bodies recovered to 19 since the commencement of operations. Due to heavy rainfall and landslides, the search in the area was temporarily halted, with plans to resume operations tomorrow morning to continue the search for missing individuals.



The UAE team is utilizing advanced equipment and specialized search dogs to sift through the debris and soil, aiming to locate missing persons trapped beneath. This effort is part of the UAE’s urgent response initiative to provide support to the friendly Sri Lankan populace in their time of need.
