Chief Public Prosecutor, Judge Yousef Thiabat, on Monday issued an order for prosecutors across the Kingdom to crackdown on "celebratory gunfire" after the announcement of the results of parliamentary elections due to be held tomorrow. "The Public Prosecution is keen on keeping societal peace and security, safeguard public order and spare innocent lives, Thiabat told Petra in an interview. "On the occasion of the announcement of final election results, directives have been issued to public prosecutors in the Kingdom to pursue anyone firing shots (in the air), without exception," he said, stressing that particular attention will be given to unlicensed arms.
