Dubai: Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the National Committee for the Agentic AI Project, has announced a significant shift in the UAE's government operations with the introduction of Agentic AI, aiming to transform 50 percent of federal government functions within two years.
According to Emirates News Agency, the announcement was made during a workshop organized by the Presidential Court and the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs in Dubai. The event saw the participation of 600 employees from both entities as part of a national project to integrate Agentic AI into government processes. The workshop focused on the next phase of AI-powered transformation, exploring new models to enhance efficiency, output quality, and decision-making.
Al Gergawi highlighted the strategic directive to integrate AI as a pivotal move towards redesigning government operations to be more efficient and productive. He emphasized the UAE's position as a leader in leveraging advanced technology, stating that Agentic AI will enhance human capabilities and foster creativity and innovation.
The ministry also announced the "Top 3 AI Agents Award" to encourage innovation and the development of impactful AI solutions in government work. Haitham Al Rais, Secretary-General of the National Committee for the Agentic AI Project, presented a plan to convert 75 percent of the ministry's operations to AI, with a focus on improving efficiency and enabling employees to engage in higher-value tasks.
The implementation plan includes four phases: assessment and readiness, capability building, pilot deployment, and full-scale rollout. Shamsa Jaber Al Falasi, Executive Director of Transformation and Development at the Presidential Court, discussed the importance of changing mindsets and expanding capabilities to fully harness AI's potential.
Al Falasi outlined initiatives at the Presidential Court, such as the development of a sovereign AI infrastructure and an AI culture framework. She also conveyed directives from His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan to accelerate the AI shift and convert 75 percent of the court's services to AI within two years.
A panel discussion featuring key government figures explored the practical application of AI in government settings, emphasizing the transition from experimentation to full adoption. Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, detailed the government's plans to upskill 80,000 federal employees in AI tools and solutions.
The workshop concluded with specialized sessions on Agentic AI, conducted in collaboration with global technology leaders and the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, aimed at accelerating AI adoption and equipping employees with the necessary skills to drive this transformation.
