ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates has escalated its humanitarian efforts in Lebanon by sending three additional aircraft loaded with 120 tonnes of essential relief materials, including medical supplies, food, ambulances, and shelter equipment. According to Emirates News Agency, these flights mark a significant ramp-up in the UAE's ongoing support under the "UAE stands with Lebanon" campaign. This initiative, which started on October 8, operates in collaboration with key international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). With the latest dispatch, the UAE has now sent a total of 12 aircraft carrying 515 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Lebanon. The relief campaign was initiated following directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and is closely monitored by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, supervises the campaign. Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations, emphasized the UAE's commitment to continuing its support for the Lebanese people. He highlighted the UAE's role as a steadfast provider of humanitarian aid and its efforts to ensure rapid relief for communities in distress, thereby reaffirming its global responsibility and dedication to humanitarian causes. Al Shamsi stated, "The UAE has always been a global icon in humanitarian work and in helping societies in the midst of disasters and conflicts restore security and stability."
