Munich: The UAE-Germany Business Forum took place in Munich, coinciding with the state visit of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Germany. The forum, which witnessed significant participation from business leaders, investors, and representatives from both nations, resulted in the signing of 30 memoranda of understanding, agreements, and commercial partnerships valued at £9.66 billion.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreements span various priority sectors, including renewable energy, clean energy infrastructure, oil and gas, advanced technology and artificial intelligence, industry and manufacturing, logistics, transport, ports and aviation, healthcare and life sciences, agriculture and food security, and consumer goods. These collaborations highlight a growing interest in joint projects and expanding cooperation in high-growth sectors.
Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister for Foreign Trade, delivered opening remarks at the forum. Al Zeyoudi highlighted the new phase of economic partnership between the UAE and Germany, built on a long history of cooperation and aimed at broader growth and investment horizons. He emphasized the advanced status of UAE-German relations, not only in historical depth but also in their future-oriented trajectory.
Al Zeyoudi shared that non-oil trade between the UAE and Germany reached £13.4 billion in 2025, accounting for approximately one-fifth of the UAE's total non-oil trade with the European Union. He noted the significant growth in mutual investments, with cumulative UAE investments in Germany reaching £34.5 billion.
The minister underscored "acceleration" as the guiding principle for future economic cooperation, whether by growing existing industries, establishing new sectors, leveraging technologies, or launching joint ventures with tangible economic impacts. He noted that the agreements signed during the forum represent a qualitative leap in the partnership, translating the nations' shared vision for progress into reality.
Al Zeyoudi pointed out that the forum occurs amidst rapid global economic shifts, offering new opportunities for UAE and Germany to enhance their economic and investment cooperation. He stated that the partnership connects two complementary economic systems, providing a platform to access broader global markets and opportunities.
He further emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in realizing the shared ambition for cooperation and growth. Al Zeyoudi encouraged the business communities of both countries to move from dialogue to implementation, transforming agreements into tangible projects and investments.
The UAE-Germany Business Forum featured a comprehensive programme to facilitate dialogue and networking, including a panel discussion on artificial intelligence and energy, in-depth discussions, and roundtables on industry, advanced manufacturing, technology, and logistics. The forum also hosted investment matchmaking sessions and bilateral B2B meetings to explore cooperation opportunities.
