UAE Judo Team Begins Lausanne Grand Slam Campaign with Strong Lineup

Abu dhabi: The UAE national judo team is set to commence its campaign at the Lausanne Grand Slam on Saturday, featuring prominent athletes Karim Abdel Latif and Naji Yazbek in the -73kg category, along with Giorgi Elbakiev in the -81kg category. The prestigious event is scheduled from 26th to 30th August and showcases over 530 judokas from 78 countries, including a 10-member refugee team.

According to Emirates News Agency, this edition of the tournament introduces competitions for People of Determination, aiming to promote societal inclusion and ensure equal opportunities for all participants. The tournament kicks off on Friday with the lightweight events, following the draw that is set to take place tomorrow.

The UAE's participation concludes on Sunday with athletes Aram Grigorian and Talal Shafili competing in the -90kg category, Omar Maarouf in the +100kg category, and Eliza Litev representing in the women's -78kg category.
