UAE Marks 50 Years of Armed Forces Unification

Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates will celebrate on Wednesday the 50th anniversary of the unification of its Armed Forces, reflecting on five decades of achievements and heroism in defending sovereignty and safeguarding national gains. The occasion highlights the UAE Armed Forces' high efficiency and readiness in countering recent Iranian aggression and thwarting attempts to undermine the country's security, marking a significant achievement in modern military history with the successful interception of ballistic missiles and drones targeting the UAE.

According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE Armed Forces have advanced with a clear strategy based on constant readiness and multi-dimensional response capabilities, integrating land, air, naval, and cyber domains within a unified system. The land forces, considered the backbone of the UAE's defense system, emphasize smart maneuvers built on speed and accurate information. Modern armored systems, advanced artillery platforms, and ground reconnaissance systems are digitally linked for real-time data exchange among units.

The air force remains a key pillar of the UAE's strategic deterrence, equipped with multi-role aircraft capable of long-range operations to safeguard vital interests and provide precise support to other forces. This air superiority extends to a comprehensive system of early warning, air defense, and advanced command centers, with joint training programs strengthening Emirati pilots' capabilities.

Maritime security is a strategic priority for the UAE, given its location near busy global trade routes. The naval forces have strengthened their capabilities with multi-role vessels, coastal surveillance systems, and unmanned platforms to secure shipping routes and energy corridors.

Significant growth in national defense industries marks one of the UAE Armed Forces' strategic transformations, shifting from procurement reliance to developing and producing advanced systems. Despite technological advances, the human element remains central, with substantial investments in military and academic training and national service initiatives reshaping defense concepts.

Women play a crucial role in the UAE's defense strategy, with their integration into the Armed Forces and participation in national service reflecting the leadership's vision of women as key partners in nation-building. The Khawla bint Al Azwar Military School is pivotal in training female personnel, and female participation in some national service cohorts has exceeded 11 percent.

Additionally, the UAE Armed Forces are instrumental in implementing humanitarian initiatives globally, reinforcing the country's commitment to its humanitarian responsibilities.
