Abu dhabi: Victory Team's Shaun Torrente clinched the Grand Prix of Kyrgyzstan on Sunday, narrowly defeating Erik Stark by 0.047 seconds after a race that transformed from a commanding lead to a competitive nine-boat contest due to a single yellow flag.

According to Emirates News Agency, the main race of the World Championship stage of water motor "Formula 1" (F1H2O) - the Grand Prix of the Kyrgyz Republic 2026 - concluded at Issyk-Kul with Torrente taking the top spot. This victory also propelled Torrente to the championship lead, placing him four points ahead of Stefan Arand, who retired from the crucial race that was pivotal for his title defense.

Khaled bin Dasmal, a board member of the Dubai International Marine Club and Head of the Victory Team delegation, expressed that this achievement is dedicated to the wise leadership and the club's board of directors, led by Ahmed Saeed Bin Meshar. He acknowledged the continuous support that furnished all necessary elements for the team's success. He further emphasized that the victory was a result of teamwork initiated before the season began, reflecting the professionalism of the Victory Team and their commitment to maintaining the lead and contending for the World Championship title until the final round.

This marks Torrente's first time leading the standings this season, coinciding with what he has confirmed to be his final year on the tour before retirement. The race featured 18 pilots who exhibited exceptional speed and skill on the waters of Issyk-Kul.
