Beijing: The 2025 World Robot Conference is set to take place from August 8 to 12 in Beijing's Yizhuang, with an unprecedented level of participation from robot companies and global experts, as announced by the Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE) at a press conference.
According to Emirates News Agency, this year's event will feature more than 1,500 exhibits from over 200 leading robotics companies worldwide, including industry giants like ABB, KUKA, Festo, and CITIC Heavy Industries Co. This represents a 25 percent increase in participating companies compared to the previous year. Over 100 new products are expected to debut at the event, nearly doubling the number of product launches from 2024.
The conference will see a significant rise in international collaboration, with the number of supporting organizations increasing from 12 to 28. More than 80 overseas guests, including those from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region, and Taiwan Island, will be in attendance. A total of 300 overseas delegations, including groups from Singapore, ASEAN, Nepal, and Cameroon, are set to discuss robotics application needs and cooperation plans.
Humanoid robots will be a focal point of the expo, with 50 full-body humanoid robot manufacturers showcasing their latest technologies and industry solutions. This marks a record number of such companies at any robotics exhibition, as noted by the CIE.
The demand for humanoid robots has been on the rise since the start of the year, with domestic manufacturers seeing increased order volumes. Chinese firms continue to lead the global commercial service robot market, accounting for 84.7 percent of shipments. In 2024, China was responsible for two-thirds of all global robot-related patent applications.
China's industrial robot market has experienced significant growth, with sales rising from 70,000 units in 2015 to 302,000 units in 2024. The country has maintained its position as the world's largest industrial robot market for 12 consecutive years. China's output of industrial robots increased from 33,000 units in 2015 to 556,000 units in 2023, while service robot production reached 10.52 million units in 2024, marking a 34.3% year-on-year increase.
