Abu dhabi: At least 30 people, including children, lost their lives in an overnight attack by armed assailants on a farming village in Kaduna State, northern Nigeria. The tragic incident unfolded as the attackers stormed the village around midnight, unleashing gunfire indiscriminately and subsequently setting homes and shops ablaze.

According to Emirates News Agency, residents have accused cattle herders of perpetrating the attack, linking it to the ongoing conflict between herders and farmers over critical resources such as water and land. This long-standing dispute has frequently resulted in violent confrontations, further exacerbating tensions in the region.

Local residents and officials reported that as security forces began to approach, the assailants retreated into the surrounding bushland, abandoning some of their cattle in their haste. This incident highlights the persistent challenges faced by communities in northern Nigeria, where resource-related conflicts often escalate into violence, causing loss of life and property.
