5.7-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off Greek Island of Crete

Crete: A significant earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck the sea region off the coast of eastern Crete, Greece.

According to Emirates News Agency, the tremor occurred at approximately 6:18 a.m. local time. The earthquake was centred roughly 11-28 kilometres southeast of Ierapetra.

Due to its shallow depth, the earthquake was widely felt across the island, particularly in the Lasithi and Heraklion regions. Residents experienced noticeable shaking, prompting concerns but no immediate reports of damage or injuries have been noted. Emergency services are on alert to respond if necessary.
