Foreign Minister congratulates press, media community on Bahrain Press Day

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, has commended the important initiative of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to mark the Bahrain Press Day for the eighth year in a row, which reflects His Majesty’s constant support for a free media, and its vital role as an active partner in preserving the nation’s identity and deep-rooted culture, as well as enhancing its sustainable development and democratic achievements.

He extended his utmost thanks and appreciation to His Majesty the King and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their unlimited support for human rights and political and civil freedoms, foremost among which is the freedom of the press and media, the right to express opinion, knowledge creativity and information circulation in light of a modern democratic climate and a developed constitutional and legal system.

He further stressed that the message addressed by His Majesty the King on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day embodied the royal vision of our national media and its active role within Team Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister in promoting the pace of post COVID-19 recovery.

On this national occasion, the Minister extended his utmost congratulations to the Kingdom’s press and media, praising the efforts of the Ministry of Information Affairs, the National Communication Centre, the Bahraini Journalists Association, all press and media institutions, writers and journalists.

He further affirmed the Ministry’s keenness to consolidate partnership with the press and the media, in implementation of the royal directives of His Majesty the King, and that of the government, led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to enhance the distinguished position of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a pioneering model for respect of human rights and public freedoms, to consolidate the values of tolerance, to spread a culture of peace and dialogue among religions, cultures and civilisations, to reject hate speech, and to highlight the Bahraini humanitarian and civilised message at regional and international diplomatic and media forums.
