Minister: Egypt committed to enhancing security, stability of int’l aviation

Minister of Civil Aviation Mahmoud Abbas asserted that Egypt is committed to enhancing the security, stability and environment of international aviation as well as developing the air transportation industry through supporting the initiatives of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

 

This came in his speech before the 41st Session of the ICAO General Assembly in Canada that brings together representatives of 193 Member States to discuss the state of the global air transport industry.

 

He hailed the ICAO and its efforts to support regional and international cooperation in the civil aviation sector.

 

He also pointed out that the Egyptian state has been supporting the civil aviation sector, as one of the main axes of national economic development, within the framework of Egypt Vision 2030, which is a long-term strategic plan to achieve the principles and goals of sustainable development in all fields.

 

ICAO Assemb​ly is the Organization’s sovereign body. It meets at least once every three years and is convened by ICAO’s governing body, the Council.

 

ICAO’s 193 Member States and a large number of international organizations are invited to the Assembly, which establishes the worldwide policy of the Organization for the upcoming triennium.

Foreign Ministry: Syria condemns Israeli aggression on Damascus vicinity

Syria condemned the blatant Israeli aggression on the vicinity of Damascus at dawn on Wednesday , calling on the General Secretariat of the UN and Security Council to condemn the Israeli crimes and demand their cessation and respect the relevant Security Council resolutions.

Foreign and Expatriates Ministy said in a message addressed to the Secretary-General of the UN and President of Security Council on Wednesday that Israeli occupation army committed an air-missile attack on some points surrounding the capital, Damascus, at 12:41a.m. today, Wednesday, April 27th , 2022, using a number of missiles which were fired from the direction of the occupied Tiberias, claiming the lives of four soldiers, wounding three others and causing some material damages.

The Ministry added that this new cowardly aggression coincided with the continuous attacks perpetrated by the US and Turkish occupation forces on Syrian citizens and Syrian lands in support of terrorist groups which prolong the war in Syria.

It said that the Syrian Arab Republic condemns that blatant aggression and other Turkish and US aggression, and reserves the right to respond by appropriate means approved by international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

FM participates in meeting of ministerial committee on Quds

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry participated on Thursday in an emergency meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee for the International Action against Illegal Israeli Policies and Measures in Al-Quds.

During the meeting, Shoukry underlined Egypt’s steadfast stand vis-a-vis the Palestinian cause, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

A law to allow the Minister of Finance to guarantee EgyptAir flights to Russia

President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi issued Law No. 20 of 2022, authorizing the Minister of Finance to provide the holding company for EgyptAir and EgyptAir Airlines with an insurance guarantee to fulfill their financial obligations that may result from operating flights to and from the airports of Russian Federation, in case of accidents; whether as a result of normal operating conditions or as a result of  dangers of wars or hijacking. The law was published in the Official Gazette on Monday.
