SCC: Industrial product registration does not contradict with constitution

The Supreme Constitutional Court turned down Saturday 06/08/2022 a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the first paragraph of article 18 of law No 11/1991 concerning general sales taxes.

Under the law provision, the industrial product, whose sale value including locally-produced commodities hits or exceeds the sum of money set by the legislator must be registered in the Egyptian Tax Authority.

Mahmoud Ghoneim, the President of the Court, said in a statement that the obligatory registration of industrial products does not contradict with the constitution.

Such registrations take into consideration equality of opportunity principle as far as products are concerned, according to him.

Given the fact that registered products will enjoy the discount privilege, added Ghoneim.
