Hammam Hamoudi and the Iranian FM stress the importance of Iraq’s role in stabilizing the region

Baghdad, Sheikh Hammam Hammoudi, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Hammam Hammoudi, and Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian stressed the importance of Iraq’s role in stabilizing the region.

During his meeting with Abdullahian, Sheikh Hamoudi referred to the strength of bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries, praising Iran’s role in supporting the Iraqi opposition in confronting the defunct regime, and also during Iraq’s war with the terrorist ISIS, as well as the development taking place in the economic aspect between the two countries, especially in the field of energy and electricity, expressing his hope that Iran will facilitate residency procedures for Iraqis and treat them as sons of the Iranian people.

For his part, the Iranian foreign minister praised the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq and its long struggle history and the positive relationship with the Islamic Republic, expressing his wishes of success to Al-Sudani government, pointing to the development of relations between Iran and some countries of the Gulf states in order to achieve stability in the region.
