Dutch Youth Creativity Award concludes activities

Dutch Youth Creativity Award (Dyaa), part of the activities of the “Project: “Creating Attractive Opportunities for Livelihood of Youth in Agriculture (COOL-YA),” on Thursday concluded at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). Speaking at the closing ceremony, JUST Vice President, Ahmed Ajlouni, said the project aims to enhance contact with the local community’s sectors. Ajlouni also noted the award provides an opportunity for students, who have “creative” projects to find solutions to post-harvest problems in Jordanian agricultural sector to complete development of these businesses. 26 teams are competing to win 6 financial prizes worth JD4,000 per team, from JUST, Al- Balqa’ Applied University (BAU), University of Jordan, and Jerash University. Meanwhile, Country Representative of Finn Church Aid, Jehan Zaben, stressed importance of celebrating efforts of the participating universities’ students and the “strong” support of the “distinguished” professors, who worked on finding “unique” technological ideas and applicable solutions to address challenges facing Jordan’s agricultural sector, under Dyaa award. For her part, Representative of Netherlands Embassy in Jordan, Enas Saeed, noted importance of supporting youth, refining their skills, stimulating technology integration in the agricultural sector, and activating women role in this regard in COOL-YA project.
